How to select a progressing cavity pump?

Progressing cavity pump can be used for conveying almost all kinds of media, but the best economic and technical effect can be obtained only if it is selected correctly. It is suggested that customers put forward process parameters and the company’s professionals should select the type for you.

Selection Guide

1.According to different conveying materials, the following factors are comprehensively considered:

Material wear, corrosion, solid content, viscosity at working temperature, reactivity to different rubbers, PH value, particle content, shape, particle size, etc.

2.Determine flow rate, output pressure, pump type and flow directionand flow direction:

Flow rate: Under a certain pressure, the flow rate is proportional to the speed.

Pressure: After determining the number of pump stages, we usually choose the pump type and recommend the customer to use it, and ultimately the customer decides.

Flow direction: The pump is turned by the motor to determine the material flow direction. The inlet and outlet can be adjusted and changed according to the needs. Usually, the flange near the drive end is used as the inlet. This port can be installed in a 90° direction according to the needs.

3.Determine the motor power and driving mode of the pump:

Motor power is related to pump type, flow rate, actual output pressure and efficiency.

Driving modes: direct motor drive, deceleration motor drive, diesel engine drive, manual or automatic stepless speed regulation drive (variable frequency motor, electromagnetic speed regulation).

4.Material selection:

According to the physical and chemical properties of the transported materials, the materials of main parts can be selected as follows:

Inlet and outlet: cast iron, cast steel, stainless steel, 304, 316L, 2205, 904L, Ti, etc.

Transmission components: carbon steel, stainless steel, 304, 316L, 2205, 904L, Ti, CD4MCu, etc

Stator: Stator: all kinds of rubber and other elastic materials. (NR, NBR, Q, EPM, FKM)

Sealing form:

Mechanical seal: single-end mechanical seal, double-end mechanical seal and customized seal, etc.

Packing seal: Teflon packing

Installation form:

Horizontal, vertical, mobile, vehicle-mounted and other different forms.

Generally, the flow direction of the medium in the pump is shown in Fig. A. at this time, the pump rotates anticlockwise when viewed from the driving end; it can also be observed from the driving end in Figure B that the pump rotates clockwise, but the shaft seal is in high pressure.

Generally, the flange near the driving end is used as the suction chamber, and its flange direction is upward, as shown in Figure A, which can also be changed to horizontal or downward, as shown in Figures B, C and D.
